Offering a range of financial services- the bank has been a pioneer in using technology to deliver banking services in remote and rural areas of India. In this case study, we will delve into how the Bank utilized a more robust and secure platform to manage its growing volume of customer data and transactions.
The bank's rapidly growing data and transaction volumes demanded a more robust and secure environment, which the previous platform was unable to keep up with. The IT and the business team wished to reduce the processing times for greater customer satisfaction. And having recently acquired the banking license, it was imperative that security consideration was kept at the forefront.
- Platform Migration to Aix
- Server Consolidation to support the growing number of branches
- Superior performance and security for demanding workloads newly acquired banking license.
SBA worked closely with IBM to plan and implement the migration to AIX on IBM Power 9 servers. The process involved the following steps:
- Analysis and Planning: SBA conducted a thorough analysis of the Bank's existing environment, including hardware, software, and network infrastructure. Based on the analysis, SBA developed a detailed migration plan with IBM-outlining the scope, timeline, and resources required for the migration.
- Migration Strategy: Phased migration approach was adopted to minimize downtime and data loss. The first phase involved setting up the AIX environment on the IBM Power 9 servers and configuring the required software and applications. In the second phase, data was migrated to the AIX environment. The final phase involved testing and validation to ensure that the migrated data was accurate and functional.
- Testing and Validation: Extensive testing and validation was done to ensure that the migrated database was fully functional and met the Bank's requirements. Training was also provided to the IT team on managing and maintaining the new platform.
